Year 5
Welcome to the Year 5 class page.
Mrs Sarah Gill, Class Teacher
As the children have now entered the Upper Phase, we aim to prepare them for their final stage of learning in primary school. Here at North Mundham Primary School we believe that the Year 5 children should be given the opportunity to grow in confidence as young people both academically and personally.
We help them to develop as independent learners who can thrive and progress through the experiences of a wide and broad-based curriculum. We continue to develop their confidence and encourage them to become naturally curious learners, through exciting learning and special event days that are spread out over the year, such as canoeing, visiting the Chichester Planetarium, holding a Medieval experiences day and inviting people of different ages in to talk to us.
One of the most valuable things your child can do is read! This year the expectation is that your child reads every day. This can be reading with another person or reading on their own. Please allow your child to read whatever they are interested in and talk about what they read; these reads build to earning our ‘Read the Oceans’ certificates.
By the end of the year, we look forward to the children being confident, independent learners, willing to challenge themselves in different areas and ready to take on the next challenge of their final year in primary school.
